Abdullah is one of the most beloved and spiritually rich Urdu novels by Hashim Nadeem, the author of Childhood December and God and Love. It is a unique blend of romance, spirituality, and mysticism, showing how love can be the path to divine truth.
Summary:
The novel follows Sahir, a young man from a modern, materialistic world who believes in worldly love and luxuries. His life changes when he meets Zahra, a pure-hearted and modest girl whose faith and simplicity deeply impress him.
Sahir loves Zahra and tries to win her heart. However, Zahra belongs to a religious family and lives her life according to Islamic values. Their love faces many obstacles – social differences, internal conflicts, and Zahra’s strong belief that love should lead closer to Allah, not further away from Him.
Through heartbreak and loss, Sahir begins to question his own existence and the meaning of true love. His spiritual transformation begins when he meets Sultan Baba, a wise Sufi saint who guides him on the path of divine love.
